Doesn't SMF have built in SEF urls?
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

My words are mine and mine alone.  I can't speak for anyone else, and there is no one who can speak for me.  If I ever make a post that gives the opinions or positions of other users or groups, then they will be clearly labeled as such.
I'm disappointed that people's past actions have forced me to state what should be obvious.
I am not a dev.  Nothing I say counts for anything.

SMF have only something what cause links like this: index.php/topic,16.0.html

Syntac

SMF's URLs are much prettier than that. I mean, a question mark and some semicolons? How much awesomer can you get? :P

1 or 2.
3 is ambiguous, and looks retarded.  As I recall, that's the SEF thing that also manages to rape the DB.

The forums lack a subscribe to thread button, so I can't watch a thread without posting.

@rotacak: In Safari, number 3 generated the following:

Not Found

The requested URL /forum/general-discussion/forum-changes was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Thats because it is a proposition to install a plugin that is not actually installed.. as I understand that post.

If you using linux with commandline, then I understand completely. But I think only link 3) can give some information before you click/not click on it. I posting this there because I repeatedly clicking on already known links - i don't know how you, but I not remember all topic numbers :)
You can say "Browser will change visited links color". But browser not mark "known" links (if you know what I mean) and not telling me about that link/topis is.

Yes.

David

The purpose of a URL is to uniquely identify a page.  The text and markup around it tell you what the link is to.
