Okay, now I managed to get myself addicted to Battlezone.



Game which features both strategy and FPS. Only thing I need to learn is to make server. Haven't bothered yet to look how to make it.

• UFO: Alien Invasion (pretty good X-COM clone)
• Warsow (just recently started, the trick-jumping is sorta fun)

Single-player games.

• ToME (an Angband variant)
• Slash'EM (a Nethack variant)
• The Ur-Quan Masters (open source port of the greatest game ever made)

Err, no. I've compiled all of these from source. Unless I'm mixing up the definition of free software again. These are definitely all open-source though.

Well, we could get pissy over Free Software vs. Open source, but that's not the point, i didn't think the bits that make UrT UrT were actually available in source form or licensed in a terribly free way, even if they do use a GPL'd engine. It's a bit like calling day of the tentacle free software because you can run it with scummvm.

I think some of the ta spring games might use some old TA content, but yes, the rest seem to be pretty free.
Just to be clear, my picking up on your use of the term free software wasn't a complaint, i thought maybe the UrT people had finally decided to open source it.

I have a lot of trouble finding games that are as enjoyable in the long-term as trem, i do enjoy the occasional round of UrT but can't play it solidly all night like i can trem.

Actually I'm having fun with my connection problems. The servers are fucking crap and so is matchmaking. The guns I don't find are too bad, I mean, I do come in the top three most matches.

Actually I'm having fun with my connection problems. The servers are fucking crap and so is matchmaking. The guns I don't find are too bad, I mean, I do come in the top three most matches.

When I was playing the closed beta, there were three servers in my connection area, total. The client was complete crap and didn't know how to handle a full server, so it would connect, take its sweet time loading the whole game, then crash and glitch the menu so that you had to close it using an invisible button with an invisible cursor.

Don't even try to complain about connection issues with that game.

u m isn't that kind of self explanatory?  ill go through it any way though, you can use your hardrive as the graphics card (well kind of i guess just a really crappy one, it will skip lag half life 2 for example that's why i had to buy a new graphics card since running things off of the hardrive doesn't work that well)so that's what i meant i only was saying one of my past experiences with having no graphics card

Yeah, I think my PSU is too underpowered. It's gradually been wearing down over 5 months and I guess it's just had it .

Better than Neverwinter Nights 2, beats even Dragon Age. Looking foward for Witcher 2, but there are, ahem, equipment issues...
