You clearly have m4d l33t 5k1llz. Actually, if that thing has a SID chip, I bet the soundtrack is great.

2.66 ghz Core 2 Quad, 4 gigs of DDR2 ram(crap it's so expensive, and I need more ram!!. Any idea on cheap good DDR2 Ram?) running Vista that I gutted out.

Locally-assembled box. Abit KN8, Athlon XP 3500+, Radeon X300. It's adequate for Tremulous if a bit slow (wrt frame rate) when there's a lot going on. Full-screen is presently 1280×1024.

Laptop: Acer Aspire 5332. Celeron T3100, GM45. Runs Tremulous full-screen (1366×768) well too, but tends to drop the frame rate more readily.

EeePC 901. Atom N270, GMA950. Slower, of course, but still copes fairly well.

The OS on each is based on Debian squeeze; amd64 where possible, otherwise i386. The first two have newer X (X.org 1.9) and newer Mesa (7.9). All three have fairly recent kernels.

Thinking about buying a gfx card, can anyone recommend some AGP 4x/8x cards that are not above €80?

Tremulant

Ebay is your friend, you can get a reasonably high-end AGP card(by agp standards) for very little, certainly well below 80 euros, second-hand.

If you wanna talk Euro's go join the continent you filthy traitor!

gimhael

NVidia cards support AGP only up to the 7xxx series, but I think AMD offers some DX10 AGP cards which are <= €80.

I have retired from Tremulous. Definetely. If you play a game just because it has become a habit, but u'r only feeling like a kindergarten teacher - well, maybe I am just getting too old (hell, I was a teenager when DukeNukem3D was *new*) - it's probably not a bad idea to just let it be. And I do.

Don't take this personally. Have fun, guys.

I've built several computers and ending up selling quickly, at the moment i've got an medium gaming comp.

NZXT Guardian blue (MIDI Tower)

Intel i5_2500K (Yeah fuck AMD shit)

ASUS Maximus IV GENE-Z  smallest of the ROG class.

Harddrive Western digital black 1TB

Corsair SSD 60GB SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA3.0), 555MB/495MB/s

Screencard x2.XFX Radeon 6950 2GB dual fan.

CPU cooler. Corsair H70 Hydro series.

Chieftec 750W

RAM x2.Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz 4GB CL8

Sony Optiarc Blu-Ray Writer.

Screen BenQ 24" LCD G2420HD

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits(cracked)

Keyboard, Logitech G110

Mouse, Razer Mamba!

Speakers, Logitech z_906.

Headsett, Logitech G35.

I have ordered a new Cabinett, NZXT Phantom black(big tower) And a new samsung syncmaster 24 screen, still waiting for the new chipset, and socket to come out.

Also the motherboard i got has proven to be the best motherboard of it's class to overclock with! it overclocked best to 5.0 ghz with an i7 processor.

Aelita

NZXT makes fantastic cases. I have a Gamma from them, and they give you a huge amount of space for cable management. The drive mounts are really nice too, the cables are on the inside, not on the outside, so the appearance with the side panel off is very clean.

VonDutch

I Agree with you! except for my midi tower, this one does not have much of space. http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.aspx?sku=630860

Cope57

Here is the PC "barebones kit" that I ordered a few years ago and have continued upgrading when needed. I know some are going to say it is not that powerful, but it is better than some, and for the price, it is cheaper to build, than buying a new one every few years. Here are the specs:

Hardware:
    • Ultra Black Defender ATX Mid-Tower Case with Front USB Ports
    ◦ 400 Watt XVS Modular Power Supply

    ◦ Biostar MCP63 GeForce 6150 Socket AM3 Motherboard

    ◦ AMD Sempron 140 CPU (yes, I plan on upgrading this)
    ∙ 2700.000 MHz
    ∙ Bogomips 5425.82

    ◦ CRUCIAL 4GB DDR3
    ∙ 1333MHZ PC3-10600 DIMM (x2)

    ◦ ZOTAC GeForce GT 220

    ◦ Seagate 320GB Serial ATA HD
    ∙ 7200
    ∙ 16MB
    ∙ SATA-3G

    • Britz 2100s speakers
    ◦ 6.5 in. sub-woofer

    • HP DVD840I DVD Writer with LightScribe (x2)

    • Logitech Classic Keyboard 200

    • Logitech Extreme Gaming Headset

    • Logitech MX 620 Cordless Laser Mouse

    • Acer AL1917W

    • Acer X171

Operating System:
    • Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.2
    ◦ Kernel 2.6.32-5-amd64
    ◦ GCC 4.4.5 (x86_64-linux-gnu)
    ◦ GNOME 2.30.2 (Debian 2010-11-12)
Computers do not have problems, they have users *Link Removed*

VonDutch

Well it works! still it's outdated, and i would prefer an better processor, motherboard, and screencard, the Gainward geforce 580 is pretty awesome, Still you are correct, better upgrading then buying new! but remember to ALWAYS sell and upgrade before your parts get outdated.
