the Basilisk is gimped but playable, needs a few improvements/abilitys.
First of all, don't use the word "gimped". Second, the basi's stealth has not been nerfed. It has, in fact, been significantly improved. Some would even argue that it's too strong.
its not that aiming that is a issue, its holding a grab while try to dodge shots to get behind a target.
That's kind of the point. Basi already takes relatively little skill compared to what it used to be. Making this automatic would just be rediculous and a very bad idea.
i didn't say the basi was nerfed, the stealth of a basi is
very limited and so is its potential for combat in any form. and as a support for other aliens may be useful, it is not fun/rewarding to play as and often getts in the way. therefor it is "gimped" so to speak.(also it isn't automatic, you have to hold down your use key)
The basi in combat was fundamentally the same in 1.1 with movement and aim, except that it took more aim since you had to be accurate with swipe to get the most out of it, on top of being able to hold your grabs. But I never heard a complaint with this whole maneuvering around a grabbed human. People grew into being good with basi despite the way it was. And it's the same now, people are improving with it as it is without needing crazy changes like SirDude's suggestion.
Look at Rezyn; never was much of a stand out pro or anything but he has developed a pretty good basi. Maybe I missed seeing him use it in 1.1 or something, though I didn't see him very often in that, but clearly people can get good with basi as it is and learn to move around the humans they grab. So changes to that are unnecessary. If you're pissed because you suck with it, deal with it.
its not really about how easy it is to use, but how specialized it really is and not really being a very fun class to use.
you can't always just run if your detected (as the basi is so defenseless in these situations)
having a specialized class for stealth when its stealth is easily compromised, is VERY bad.
even more so if you combine this with a healer.
this idea isn't that best, but its the best for devs who don't want the basi to turn invisible visually and or to radar. if it could do both (TF2 Spy style). it would be a MUCH funner class to play as and encourage teamwork on the humans side.
if invisibility like that really made it in game.
I say in S1 the basi can only turn invisible visually for 5 seconds.
and in S2 it can turn invisible visually/to radar for 6.2 seconds.
the invisibility idea most likely won't be accepted, as people still like being able to solo a base occasionally, so I still stick with my first idea.
