Tremoulous RTS

Started by Tremhelper, June 03, 2011, 04:53:34 AM

Tremhelper

so i came up with an idea for tremoulous to have a mode to where it has gameplay much like starcraft, command and conqer and others , i mean think about it command a granger rush

i havent thought much of it so give ideas for stuff

aliens harvest a resaource of creep evos and acid the acis is used to eveolve to the next stage while creep is used like it always is

humans harvest oil, metal, and credits the oil is to suplly fleets and keep the buildings running

preytors before i go there do know i made them up but they harvest power spiritual energy and gas

zombies made up like preytors harvest blood guts and bones the bones make buildings as the guts do and the blood act like evos

Okay so day 2 of my idea of the rts version

my good friend kharnov is willing to help me make this, i told him to do 3d modols and graphics that are like starcraft 2 and he says he will even help with s front cover! so Kharnov and i are going to make this possible. please if you want to help and pitch in, please do so! we still need map makers modols and texture experts and just plain simple idea makers. please for the better of trem

Day 3 of the work comes in and i am instaling the RTS engine necessary to
to make it im letting kharnov get his hands to work so he can make the artwork
while i work on the quotes and sounds, perhaps we will split the devolopment if none else help us i will make half the game while Kharnov makes the other half, but feel free to picth in and help if you feel like it, the engine im using is called Unreal Devolpment Kit enableing a quality RTS game of everything i need. still comes the idea for the campaigns and story log, as well as support power ideas.

From the parts that I can make out, what you're suggesting is Tremulous.

I have read your proposals and I would like to make art for your game.

Here is my sketch. I hope it gets me entry into your design team.

we need 3d not 2d, not trying to be mean but we need it to look like starcraft 2

vcxzet

good luck with that overused game type
you can use one of the (open source) rts engines
just import the models to blender then export to the format used by the engine
fill in some XML-like file
you are done

Dude, that's too much... You are just rolling on with somekind of ideas, not even thinking about THE PEOPLE WHO ARE GOING TO PLAY THE GAME!!! In the first post you stated you will use Unreal Development Kit (aka UDK) which provides high quality visuals and other random utter bullshit... also gives non-support to Mac or Linux. Let's not forget about 30% (if not more) of Tremulous players, either have a Mac or Linux OR have a computer that can't run UDK (like myself) because of it's over the top graphics. All I can tell to you is - good luck with your project. People who have never played Tremulous will also most likely not understand the game.

I know, making logic on these forums results in being flamed and having -turrets, but I somehow don't care...

nothing is ever to much the universe never has to much the internet never has to much,
if your sugesting using lower graghics then i dunno
i also dont care how popular it is honestley i just wanted to play it, i would sell it to those who only
really wanted it, i make all sorts of games for no real reason, so the princibles of judgement do not apply to me.

Let's start with finding an engine that has Mac and Linux support first.

'------[Most of the replies above] show how poor people can't understand the concept of project. Tremhelper is obviously having the project to make a game that uses the Tremulous universe, but it doesn't mean he has to get the whole community of Tremulous into it by making it free or by making his project compatible with what settings most Tremulous players use. He is of course putting his project on the Tremulous forum, so the people of the community who might be interested into the project and who can get into the project will. I must also remind people that he wants to play the game, and he doesn't really care about having a marketing plan, so he will sell it as a bonus to those interested. But it is mostly a personal project, that some people can contribute to (probably in a limited way), as he makes it look. I keep seeing the same group of people attacking some members of this forum who comes up with ideas that can't be grasped by the group of people. The same situation repeat itself, first of all someone puts his idea on the forum, then people don't understand it at all and start attacking him on stupid points, after that they will call him a troll. You guys must stop this and try to think...

Ps : This isn't related to my past forums experience, I've been reading this forum for a while and I must say it was always pretty much like that, except there were more people, so the group of retards was lesser in proportion, now it doesn't seem to be the case.

I'm pretty sure anything made in the "tremulous universe" would need to be free. http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html

QuoteTremulous is open source, licensed under the GPL. Tremulous is open source because we believe that the source code should be made available to the public, along with the binaries. The primary reason behind this is to allow other developers to utilise sections of this code in their own works, should it be useful to them. It should be noted however, that using the source requires your work to also be covered by the GPL and hence be open source itself.
