Sawp guys :D first post, weee.

anyway, I'm really bored and I'm putting off homework. I noticed that there are no girls in tremulous like there are in quake, so I sketched one. I think trem needs a little kick ass girl love too. >:D






haven't really thought of s1/s2/s3 or suits/armor yet. if you wanna suggest something I'd be glad to put it in there :D

I think there have been previous discussions about a choice of gender and ethnicity in human playermodels. I'd like to see a variety of different playermodels/skins, but modeling and skinning takes time.

...and I can't imagine that Haos Redro would put high heels on their standard issue combat boots

A lot of concept sketches use anime/cartoon styles.  It allows the artist to show things in a way that is otherwise hard to draw.  As for me, I kinda like the anime look.  And these concepts are pretty good, although personally, I'd go with shorter hair, and for modelling pruposes no cigarette.

That's almost laughable. What are you basing this generalisation on?

Animè and cartoons are often very different.


Have you watched anything like..... Ghost In The Shell? It even has a relatively good english dub.




More on-topic: please. don't do anything like making the girl wear shoes which would cost most women thousands in chiropractic bills, or give her breasts which would insta-break a 'real life' woman's back. The former appears to be the only one which would currently apply.

Remember, you are drawing a soldier, not an example of extreme body modifications.

Try make them grittier and perhaps lose the cigar before the alien hordes lose all faith in humanity as a villain.

Hey, anyone see the male soldier? the one that's already playable?

Don't go in on details too much. Stick with the tremulous style!

(No, i'm not saying don't draw in manga style, i'm sayin' keep the tremulous details in it!)

An idea would be, take some forward, side, and back screenies of the male hummie, and sketch over those while simply giving them more female shapes. like smoother legs, slightly thinner arms maybe, etc. But try and keep the same uniform. meaning no stylish boots.

What? oh, go on then, do whatever you want. If you really wanna you could even make a nudie for the aliens to eat, so they don't have to eat through all those tasteless clothes first... :roll:

The detail on the drawings is only due to the sketching artform (I'd know, as I do a bit of it myself).  The detail if this was transferred to an actual model would be pretty even.  I agree about the bits about the breast size (possibly looks bigger because of angle?  It doesn't worry me at all, looks fine the way it is) and the shoes.  They just need to look a little bit more "combat-ish" (give them laces, helps the look).  But otherwise the design is brilliant.

Great idea to have more player models ingame.

You could make those boots a stage 1 upgrade that raises the player enough to make insta headshots with dretch impossible 8)

Models look ok but common there are enough distractions in the game without the nightelf cleavage.

Looks good, for a random picture of some lady. You must remember, this is a war. There is no room for fassion when your life is on the line. Keep it plain, keep it simple. High heels = no, large chest = no. People who are fassionable don't join the army, they go to hollywood, get plastic surgery etc, untill they no longer look like a real average person. And the hair should be short, the last thing you want is getting your hair snagged on something and getting killed by the enemy.

I am glad that someone actualy drew some concept sketches instead of just saying Trem needs female models, so gj there. You appear to have some tallent with drawing, so keep at it. You'll come up with a great design soon.

I think I did say that it looks like the shoes are the only thing which is really needing to be changed at the moment.


'Bout hair: long hair should be alright, as long as it's pretty certian it won't get in the way. This means it would have to be tied up, probably in a bun or something. Maybe a special hair covering thing (hey, trem is set way nto the future, why can't they have invented that sort of thing? :P).



EDIT: SInce it's vaguely relevant, I've got long hair. Goes past my shoulders.

Remeber that this is a game, so we can push the bounds by a bit.  The females in things like this are less the "army/soldier" type, and more the "good-looking-bounty-hunter/mercenary" type.  So the females in these can get away with a little fasion.  And the people who were going on about "nightelf cleavage": keep your mind out of the gutter and there shouldn't be any problems.

Women can be military too and that actually fits with the setting. Otherwise you'd get guys with loose leather jackets and chains if you see it as more of a merc setting.

I agree.. female characters should smoke.
They should leave a smoke trail, only have 1 stamina slot, and constantly have the poison effect.

They also need a headband.... b'cause its the rule.

I still watch cartoons btw.. and not just adult ones..... if you can't watch a cartoon in your adulthood your inner child is dead. :)

Why are you so against the idea?  People can enjoy playing as a female character without jacking off.  As I've already said, keep your mind out of the gutter and there will be no problems.  And before you go assuming that people want a female character because they can't get a girlfriend, remember that the guys aren't the only ones who like the idea: girls like the idea of being able to play a female character too.  Besides, most people who rip off others owing to their "lack of competence in dealing with females" can't get a date themselves.
